I haven't posted in forever, and I'm dying to upload more photos, but Evan dropped my camera a few weeks ago, and I bought a new one, but haven't had time to fiddle with the software, so I am hesitating to upload photos until I have time to really dedicate to figuring it all out!
Things here are basically hilarious on a daily basis - at least I am trying to see it that way! Because I feel I am so distracted by numerous emails, phone calls, sign this/scan this/fax that, Evan is not quite as supervised as I would like him to be. (Let's just say buying a home, selling a home, dealing with crazy insurance,etc... oh, and a new house and newborn baby! is just a whole bag of crazy fun!) He plays so well by himself most of the time, so I suppose I have taken advantage of this... OMG my dog just totally farted and I'm about to pass out. WOW.
Anyway. Here are a few of the recent happenings that prove my "mom of the year" status.
1. 2 nights ago he was yelling from upstairs "I'm taking a bath, I'm taking a bath!" I was in the kitchen, I heard him, yet I heard no running water, so I assumed he was just playing around. Andy got home from work and I asked him to check on him, as he was on his way up the stairs anyway. Andy found Evan buck naked in the bathroom sink, water dripping everywhere, he's happy as a lark yelling, "I'm taking a bath!" Yep, I rock.
2. I must hide all writing utensils, less they be found by said 3 year old and used to write on our newly painted walls. He NEVER did this in our old house with darkly painted walls... yet, he chooses to write on just about every wall, floor, etc. with crayon, ball point pen, sharpie,etc... on our lightly colored khaki new house walls. Yeah for magic erasers - and Evan is getting very acquainted with the corner.
3. Unrolling every single toilet paper roll in our house. What the "H?!" as my nephew would say! He is punished once again by having to roll it all the way up- which results in a large wad/knot of TP that I must unravel when I need to go, and then he is quickly reacquainted with the corner. Oh - also, one day I found him in the kitchen with an entire roll of aluminum foil draped all over the kitchen. I heard a rustling noise, but this one caught me by surprise. We played alien and tin man the rest of the day...
4. Running out of the house buck naked and playing in his sand table in the back yard. This is a new habit - semi hilarious, I'm sure the neighbors think we are part hillbilly. I haven't yet caught him naked on the trampoline, but I'm sure that would be equally hilarious. What can I say, the kid likes to be naked.
5. Licking sharp knives. Despite my attempts to keep sharp objects out of his mouth, I have caught him licking frosting directly off of our rediculously sharp cutco knives. What the "H" again?! I'm just glad he didn't cut himself.
6. A strange obsession with bandaids. Prior to a few weeks ago, he would NEVER wear a bandaid - now, he will not remove them, and if they fall off, he insists that it immediately be replaced with a new one. 3 of his fingers are covered in bandaids currently. I'm sure the boo boos are healed, but he won't let me look long enough to convince him the band aid is unnecessary. He has figured out how to open a bandaid and apply it himself, so I keep finding little bandaid trash all over the house. fun times!
7. Unnecessary pee pee accidents. He makes it all the way to the toilet and then pees all over the floor directly in front of the toilet? What the H?!! Today, he somehow managed to pee all over the cereal box guitar I fashioned in between phone calls from my realtor. The scarf I used as a guitar strap was completely soaked. RATS. but it was a darn cute guitar. I'll have to post the video of him rocking out on it later... too funny really.
Oh, and today, as I was finally about to eat my lunch of 2 burned hot dogs I made on the grill, I reached for the buns and realized I had baby poo poo dripping down my hand. I was holding Katie and apparently did not realize her diaper was leaking. Luckily, I hadn't actually touched the hot dog yet, but dang, I just had to laugh.
Katie, incidentally, is doing great! She's getting so big already and just so sweet. A little fussy in the evenings, but sleeping really well for the most part. Not fond of a bottle just yet, so that will be something to conquer in the next few weeks. I can already put her in 3-6 month clothing! :( the 0-3 month stuff still fits, but the 3-6 month stuff definitely is not too big for her. Little 7 weeker... so big!
okay - gotta feed the wee one. Evan is asleep - lest I allow any of you to fear he has injured himself whilst I took the time to write this update! (He surely would've created some new habit if he were awake!)
Oh, and a general thank you to everyone who has sent gifts and kind words! My list of thank yous to write keeps getting longer - and once we sell our house, I may actually have time to write them all! I'm having guilt issues about it!

Oh girlie, I'm sending you great BIG HUGS! You know I feel your pain - having a child who thinks we live in a nudist colony is just something they must get from their fathers!! HEHE! And these boys can scale a kitchen with spidey-like moves to get what we try to put away from them - ugh, it's good to be able to sit back and laugh at their antics while looking at the corner that has their "cheek" marks imprinted in the carpet!
I love reading your posts, I so hear your voice when i read, makes me smile and laugh - miss ya bunches!
I think you have at least one year to get thank you cards out for a newborn right or is it by time they graduate high school? Either way, don't sweat it, it's not like you're not busy!!!
A sense of humor is the best and most helpful trait a mommy can have -- thank God yours is so strong! Your stories are hilarious because I can just picture you telling them and laughing. I'm sure in the moment, not so funny though! Do they have MDO in Indy??? I hope all the phone calls with the realtor mean you're getting some activity on your OK house. Good luck -- remember, this too shall pass and we'll be wondering how our kids grew up so fast! Can't wait to see pictures of Katie!
This makes me glad that I have 2 girls! :)
Allison! I miss your antics! Evan sounds like he's navigating into his preschool years pretty well. Remember that all of this, like pregnancy, is temporary. At least "the corner" seems to be working! Miss you and Lily says, "!Hola!"
